Whichever way you put it, guitars are awesome. You can play them loud for millions of people on a stage, play them quietly on your bedroom so the neighbours won’t call the cops, or merely have them exhibited in your living room for everyone to glance at your gorgeous, classic and timeless choice of musical heritage investment. To help you on your quest to find a beautiful black guitar, here are 3 Iconic choices:

2. Fender Stratocaster Custom David Gilmour “The Black Strat”

David Gilmour Black Strat

Gilmour purchased the guitar, a 1969 model with a maple cap fingerboard and large headstock, in 1970 from Manny’s in New York City to replace a similar guitar he bought there a few weeks earlier, which had been stolen. The Black Strat was originally a sunburst colour, but had been repainted black at Manny’s. Since then, it has undergone numerous modifications and still exists today, being widely cited as his favorite guitar. He still uses it in the majority of his current performances.

Fender since launched an official  signature series “David Gilmour Black Strat”.In case you didn’t know,  David Gilmour was a guitarist in Pink Floyd,  so it goes great with our first option for Records with black covers!

3. Martin D-35 Johnny Cash

JOhnny Cash D-35

Perhaps Johnny Cash’s most favorite Martin guitar (and he played many) was a specially made D-35, his – and Martin’s – first guitar with a polished black finish. Perfect for “the man in black,” Cash played this guitar on stage for nearly 20 years. Now Martin has paid tribute to this musical legend with a close facsimile of that special instrument: the D-35 Johnny Cash Commemorative.

The Martin D-35 Johnny Cash edition appears to be sold out, but keep checking the link to be the first to know when it’s back on sale! Who knows? Maybe you’ll turn out to be the next iconic “Man in Black”!
